Google acquires Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion
This morning headlined some major news in the Android community as Google acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. I was pretty excited when I read this. Owning Motorola gives Google a hardware manufacturing division, which can now be used to generate Google’s future smartphones. I don’t really like the look and feel of Motorola smartphones, but maybe with Google calling the shots, the devices will turn out a lot sexier. My current mindset is to wait until Christmas time to see what the next Nexus device has to offer before making a decision on my next smartphone. Up until now, I was pretty sure Samsung would be the manufacturer of the next Nexus, but now I’m not so sure after hearing about this acquisition.Luckily, Google’s Andy Rubin (head honcho in charge of Android development) had said a few words after the acquisition announcement about Motorola’s new role with Google and how the Nexus program is going to continue and by the sound of it, this year’s Nexus will probably end up the way it was originally planned. Honestly, I hope Samsung makes it. I wanna see the next generation of the Super AMOLED display on this baby (hopefully a 720p display).
