HTC Vigor, the first smartphone to boast Beats technology

HTC Vigor to incorporate Beats technology

HTC recently announced that they had acquired a majority share of Beats Electronics by paying $300 million. Beats Electronics is the company that manufactures Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, which have recently grown quite popular. If you’ve used HTC smartphones, you’ve probably noticed that they are not really strong in the audio department. Audio recording in videos and call quality isn’t as good as their competitors’ offerings. With this investment in Beats technology, I’m sure HTC plans to up their audio game a whole lot in their future smartphones. HTC has announced that we can expect Beats technology integration some time this Fall, but the only remaining question is, what’s the first Beats-packing phone going to be like? Well, it seems like a little clue has been leaked on the Internet, revealing the specs of an upcoming HTC phone called the Vigor.

Some of the Vigor’s specs were leaked on a Dutch retailer’s website. According to the site, the Vigor will be sporting a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), Sense 3.5, an 8 megapixel camera, Beats technology integration, and a 4.3-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. Pretty standard specs for an upcoming HTC phone, but I’m particularly interested in the display and of course, Beats integration. This phone’s HD display will put the iPhone 4′s Retina Display to shame with its super high resolution. I hope 720p HD displays will soon be the standard in future superphones. I’ve recently had the chance to try out some Beats headphones and they are truly something. The audio is extremely crisp and clear. HTC phones are about to get that much better with the incorporation of this technology. It’d be tight if they included a set of Beats earphones in the packaging too =] The Vigor is rumored to be the successor to Verizon’s Thunderbolt and I expect it’ll land some time in either September or October. Exciting!
