Okay, before you get too excited, let me make it clear that I hope to BUDDHA that some of these reported specs are wrong. With that said, a UK retailer has put up a product page for the “Google Nexus Prime.” The page states that the phone will come with Android 4.0 (duh), 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.5 GHz processor, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1 megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p HD video, WiFi, and GPS. So, the Nexus Prime running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is something that we know for sure (or at least as close to being sure as it gets). The 4.6-inch display size is consistent with recent rumors, but the site doesn’t state what type of Super AMOLED it is, but just “Super AMOLED.” I’m pretty sure they don’t mean the original Super AMOLED so we’ll just have to wait to see what it’ll actually come with. Current rumors are pointing to a Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 720p. In addition, the “1.5 GHz processor” claim should probably be interpreted as 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The things that have me a bit disappointed are the cameras. I understand that megapixels don’t mean everything when it comes to actual photo quality, but since these numbers are all we have at this point, I’m not digging the 5 megapixel rear (should be 8 MP) or the 1 megapixel front-facing (should be 2 MP). Again, I really hope these specs are wrong and we get some official words from Google soon because I am seriously dying of temptation right now. I need a new phone with a larger, more beautiful screen and the power to play some of the latest games on the Android Market (which are looking NICE, I’m really liking Eternity Warriors and Third Blade right now). Oh, I almost forgot to talk about the posted picture of this alledged “Google Nexus Prime.” It looks to have no typical Android soft-key buttons (Menu, Home, Back, Search) with a sleek black back and shiny metal in the front. It looks sleek, but who knows if this is the actual look of the Nexus Prime…Octber/November can’t come soon enough.
