Will I Switch to the iPhone 6?

So, the next iPhone is going to be coming out soon. There’s a lot of buzz this time around since Apple’s rumored to finally succumb to the masses and provide an iPhone with a large screen. Additionally, the screen is rumored to be protected by synthetic sapphire, making it highly scratch resistant.

A few of my buds who have been using Android phones for years have told me that they’re thinking of trying out the new iPhone. I feel the urge as well, but at the end of the day, big screen or not, iPhones are still going going to be running iOS, an operation system that I feel limits what I can and cannot do to my phone. From unique customization settings to things like widgets that allow me to toggle random actions. So, despite all the iPhone buzz, I’ll still be sticking to Android. Nexus 6 news anyone?

Differences Between Dalvik and ART Runtimes

When Android 4.4 KitKat came out, it introduced a new feature that not many people talked about. The new feature was the ability to switch your device’s runtime. What is runtime you ask? Well, to put it simply, whenever you launch an app on your device, its software code must be processed and go through a “runtime” in order to function. Before KitKat, the standard runtime method for Android devices was called Dalvik. KitKat introduced a new method known as ART.

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 has seen decreased demand compared to previous models.

Samsung has seen huge success in the Android market since the release of its original Galaxy S. Since then, they’ve been riding a wave of complete dominance, raking in a ton of profit along the way. However, the tides seem to be slowly turning as Samsung has recently announced their second straight quarter of decreased profit year over year. Their profits have dropped as much as 25% since the same time period in 2013. A lot of this was attributed to the lack of demand for their new Galaxy S5. In my opinion, Samsung has no one to blame but themselves for this. They have come to follow in the footsteps of Apple where they release devices year after year that are hugely similar in terms of design to their previous models. Some might say that Samsung has become rather complacent in their industrial design. With Apple expected to make a literally large change to their next iPhone, Samsung should be feeling the pressure to have a device that can compete.
